Commander of Hungarian Defence Forces visits EDEX 2021

Between 28–30 November, Lieutenant General Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi PhD, Commander, Hungarian Defence Forces visited the Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX 2021) in Cairo.

The delegation headed by the Commander of the Hungarian Defence Forces visited the expo in the company of the President of Egypt, who is also the supreme commander of the armed forces.

As part of the program, a Hungarian–Pakistani bilateral meeting also took place, in which Lieutenant General Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi PhD held a discussion with Lieutenant General Muhammad Waseem Ashraf, Director General of the Joint Staff Headquarters of the Pakistan Army and Lieutenant General Ali Amir Awan, Chairman, Pakistan Ordnance Factories Board, with whom he discussed the scope of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and training.

In the framework of the expo, the commander of the Hungarian Defence Forces and Government Commissioner for Defence Development Dr. Gáspár Maróth also conducted discussions with representatives of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI).

Lieutenant General Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi PhD held a discussion with Lieutenant General Ahmed Rushdi Abdullah Askar, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Egypt about the military-to-military relations between the two countries and the continuation of Egyptian–Hungarian forms of cooperation. Besides the launch of possible joint projects, they also talked about the importance of protection against illegal migration and the fight against terrorism.

In addition to the commander of the Hungarian Defence Forces and the government commissioner for defence development, the expo was also visited by Deputy Government Commissioner General (Ret.) László Tömböl, Brigadier General (Ret.) Dr. Gyula Keszthelyi, Hungarian Defence, Military and Air Attaché to Cairo Lieutenant Colonel Károly László as well as other experts.
