The statement of cooperation has been issued between the Defense Innovation Research Institute (VIKI) operating under the Ministry of Defence and the Swedish SAAB Group, including the schedule of concrete steps for the collective work – this was recently announced by Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky.

The minister said that the appointed CEO of VIKI, Deputy State Secretary László Deme had conducted negotiations with the leaders of SAAB Group, discussing with them the concrete steps of the collaboration with the Swedish group along the points of cooperation identified in the field of Extended Reality (XR) technologies.

As it is known, based on the agreement signed between the Ministry of Defence and SAAB in March, a Centre of Excellence (CoE) using Artificial Intelligence (AI) is to be established. The Swedish party is participating, among others, in the development of the tactical aviation capability of the Hungarian air force and also in that of the virtual training needs of its supporting operational capacities. In connection with this, the CoE – coordinated on Hungary’s part by the Defense Innovation Research Institute Ltd – will launch an AI-aided maintenance training program as a pilot project.
